ICI is a nonprofit organization that began in Columbia, Tennessee in 1975 to provide services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is governed by an active volunteer Board of Directors of community and business leaders, as well as family members of individuals served, from its service area of Maury, Marshall, Hickman and Giles Counties.

ICI has been a positive presence in the Middle Tennessee community for more than 37 years.

ICI provides community-based activities, supported employment services and 24 hour residential services as well as personal assistant services; providing opportunities for our service recipients to fully participate in their communities with staff support. Individuals are provided the opportunity to experience meaningful days, learning and exploring. In addition to providing safe, reliable transportation to persons choosing to explore more of their community, we transport and provide supports for medical appointments for the men and women in our residential programs.
We are not a sitter service; we are active and determined to set and reach goals. Our programs assist individuals in developing daily living skills to become valued and productive citizens.

Our staff is educated to provide for needs specific to the service recipient; dependent on the level of need; for instance, instruction on a specific behavior, meal time challenges, and physical therapy plans which include certified physical therapists. Staff receive education for an extensive array of skill sets including medication administration, driver safety, protection from harm, and abuse prevention. Some individuals require 24 hour support for needs such as communication, nutrition, personal hygiene, social skills, or mobility challenges.

ICI is committed to serving our community by serving our participants. We believe every person has a contribution to make and should have opportunities to achieve personal success.

What can you do to make a difference? ICI is looking for volunteers to share their skill.

Whether you are staff or community member,
we need you.
